Black Pop Records’ goal is to champion Norwegian underground bands deserving of a larger audience. Geetar, on their part, have almost no audience – yet – but that is because they haven’t released or done anything until now. After playing one showcase during Bylarm in the spring of 2018, they now take their first steps out of the rehearsal space. Geetar mainly consists of Terje Vea Torkellsen and Emil Kjærnli (both are members of Mats Wawa), but it seems like two is all it takes to create the near-perfect power pop gem “The One Yull Call”.

It is a fuzzy anthem that immediately recalls The Exploding Hearts, the band that tragically perished in a car accident in 2003, shortly after releasing their debut album. That tragic fate has nothing to do with Geetar, though. But the awesome riffs, the impossibly catchy hooks and the simple rawness of the music forces the comparison anyway. The four songs present a no-holds-barred rock ‘n’ roll assault throughout the eight-and-a-half minute total duration of the EP. These are four songs you will instantly want to hear again and again, delivering some of the coolest and catchiest music you will hear this year.
